Developing Soft Skills and Personality
Developing Soft Skills and Personality. Instructor: Prof. T. Ravichandran, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Kanpur. The course aims to cause a basic awareness about the significance of soft skills in professional and interpersonal communications and facilitate an all-round development of personality. Hard or technical skills help securing a basic position in one's life and career. But only soft skills can ensure a person retain it, climb further, reach a pinnacle, achieve excellence, and derive fulfilment and supreme joy. Soft skills comprise pleasant and appealing personality traits as self-confidence, positive attitude, emotional intelligence, social grace, flexibility, friendliness and effective communication skills. Lecture 48 - Human Relations: Developing Trust and Integrity |
This last lecture of the course focuses on human relations that are an integral part of happiness and well-being, suggesting that our most treasured happiness is derived from our relationships with others, and that every effort should be taken towards long-lasting, sustainable relationships, because trust once broken cannot be restored, and that it is imperative that one works hard towards building and preserving trust and integrity in any relationship. As a value addition, it highlights further that while the parents need to empathise with their children, children ought to be respectful to elders in general and sympathetic to old people in particular.
