The Silk Road
The Silk Road is a documentary series created through the joint cooperation of China's CCTV and Japan's NHK, exploring China's historical sites, villages, religions and cultures along the ancient trade route. Consisting of twelve episodes, the series takes us on a journey through the Silk Road within China.
Episode 01 - Glories of Ancient Chang An. The Silk Road begins in Chang An (modern day Xi'an) and ends in Chang An. Once Chang An was
the largest city in the world when it was the capital of Tan Dynasty China in the seventh century. The Silk Road crew explore historical sites and
cultures in Chang An - the Great Wall, the incredible Clay Army, the amazing World's largest Tomb, hollowed Buddhist temple, the hidden underground murals of
Princess Yong-tai, the evidences that religions such as Buddhism, Christianity and Muslim had been transferred to China via the Silk Road, etc.

Chang'an - wikipedia Chang'an is an ancient capital of more than ten dynasties in Chinese history, today known as Xi'an. Chang'an literally means "Perpetual Peace" in Classical Chinese. |
