Astronomy 10: Introduction to General Astronomy (Fall 2011, UC Berkeley). Instructor: Professor Marc Davis. This course provides a description of modern astronomy with emphasis on the structure and evolution of stars, galaxies, and the Universe. Topics covered include: a brief history of astronomy, blackbody radiation, telescopes and astronomical instruments, the solar system, rocky planets, Jovian planets, comets and solar system debris, measuring stars, Einstein’s general theory of relativity, gravitational lensing, neutron stars, expansion of the Universe, and life in the Universe.
