AST 114: Survey of Astronomy
AST 114: Survey of Astronomy (Missouri State University). Instructor: Professor Becky Baker. What is science? Is the Moon made of green cheese? What is a star made of? How hot is the sun? What's the difference between a galactic cluster and a globular cluster? How did the Solar System form? How did the Universe form? Will it last forever? This course tries to answer these questions and many more, providing a comprehensive overview of the objects and events beyond the Earth's atmosphere and the Earth itself, as a planetary member of the Solar System. We'll explore the Sun, the planets, the many other objects found in the Solar System, stars and galaxies, dark matter, dark energy, the fate of the universe, and the possibility of extraterrestrial life.
