1914-1918, The Great War
1914-1918 (The Great War) is a documentary series telling the history of the Great War, in which nine million people perished. Consisting of seven episodes, the series charts the military course of the Great War from the origins of the conflict to the post-war peace negotiations. Expert commentary, stills, letters, diary entries, paintings and vivid film footage drawn from 40 archives around the world bring to life the experiences of those who fought the war on every side and every front. Narrated by Dame Judi Dench, the series features the voices of Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Natasha Richardson, Imogen Strubbs, Helena Bonham-Carter, Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, Tom Fleming and Tim Pigott-Smith.

Episode 5 - Mutiny
By the start of 1917, the strain of war was so great that half the French army mutinied, while in Russia the whole regime was overthrown.
Episode 6 - Collapse
This episode looks at the poverty and unrest among the German people, how the Americans finally joined in and how the war ended.
Episode 7 - Legacy
This episode deals with the post-war peace negotiations and the unfair treatment of the defeated Germans and Austrians that gave rise to their anger, poverty and unrest.
